Default valve springs

Anyone know if I need to change valve springs? cam wiped out! was a fresh build with 290 duration and .480 lift, putting in a little smaller cam and lifters. Do I need to change springs????

I you had a lot of miles on it I would. You can get a good set of springs for a mild cam like that at a good price, and hell, your working under the hood of a Nova, you've got tons of room so it won't be that much of a pain, unlike the 4th gen F-body's

I would definitely recommend putting a new set of valvesprings on the car. The last thing you want is a fatigued spring to break. You will cause way more damaged in the long run than it would cost you to upgrade the valvesprings now.
