Default question

I currently only have a lid and I wanted to know if I empty my cats would that give me more power or would it hurt me instead? I put a lid and I'm amazed that I gain 6rwhp. I dynoed my car and it made 291/320 to the wheels. When I put the lid it went up to 297/328. So I was just wondering if I cut my cats off if it would give me some more power.

Don't waste your time. I would go for a cat back first and the work your way up to the Y pipe and a set of headers.

I wouldn't do it. Save your money and get some LT headers and a good y-pipe. Do it right the first time. You'll be glad you did.

I would never remove them. Your exhaust always sounds worse after removing them, whether you have an aftermarket kit or not. I added a resonator to mine because the rasp w/o cats was so bad.

I disagree.

The exhaust always sounds better without them, so long as you use some bullet mufflers in the Y-pipe, get true duals, or run a very low rasp catback.

Of course, if you run an ORY and Loudmouth, then yes it sounds rather shitty.
