ok guys i know you have been beat to death on this but im new to the forum and new to ls1's...
i just bought a ls1 motor, auto tranny, computer out of a 2001 z28 with 61,000 miles..
i would like to know what cam would be good for more power yet retain drivability and hopefully use stock vavle springs. the swap has cost alot more than i budgeted for so im trying not to break the bank, the engine i have has the ls6 style intake with no egr, 241 heads, im getting a ported throttle body and have long tube headers with no cats. also the tune for my swap disables all the emissions functions since they do not need to be in place on my car. the car is a 1969 camaro with 3.73 gears.

any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

o and one more thing can i or should i buy one of the edit programs since my computer will no longer be a foctory type program? it has a base superchips style tune on it now.

If you go with a cam worth swaping you need to change the valve springs and push rods. Also with a auto trans you'll need a bigger stall to match a bigger cam.

There arent cams that make more power that can use stock valve springs.

You could pick up an 02-04 LS6 cam and matching springs for fairly cheap outta the classifieds and that will get you around 400HP at the crank with no stall needed.

I would go w/ a LS-6 cam & springs u can get them used for a cheap price and also change the converter to atleast a 2800 stall.W/ them mods u should be around 450 hp.
