Default Spun Bearing

I hear about this all the time but I don't know in detail what it means. What usually causes a bearing to spin and how hard is it to fix it? Also, how much does it cost to fix it.

When a motor spins a bearing: It can be a "main" bearing or a "rod" bearing.

Main as in main caps of the block

Rod as in connecting rod

When a bearing spins usually a break down in the moving parts happened and the bearing was seized to the crank for a split second at least. This causes the bearing to spin in it's track. This could cause fairly extensive damage. It can cause the rod to break from the heat. Or at the minimum the crank is in some pain and will need to be ground under and a under sized bearing will have to be used to compensate for the new clearence.

Conclusion - Spun bearing = the motor is fucked, you will not know how bad untill you take it appart.

So, take that into consideration in price.
