Default need advice on pickin up a v6 auto for a project

whats up fellas. im going to look at a 02 camaro with a blown engine tomorrow. its a v6 auto with low mileage. can anyone give me any insight or info on the car as far as difference between an auto v6 vs a m6 v8??

im looking to start a project as a newb. if its not much a hassle ill pick it up depending on price. i'm thinking of selling my low mileage ss, recouping a lot of money instead of dumping into my current baby because i would save a ton of money of what i plan on doing.

im thinking the only thing off the top of my head is the k member and i got to cut a hole for the shifter is there anything else?

btw, if i do get it how much do you think i can get for the trans? i believe 30k is on it

V6's are indeed only 5 speeds.

I think I read somewhere that the K-member is different from the 6 to the LS1 so it would need to be swapped out to put an LSX into it. Someone correct me if im wrong.

you guys are misoncepting what i wrote. i want to put a 347 with a t56 swap in the v6 car. the only thing im thinking that is different is i need a k member for the ls1 swap and to cut a hole for the t56 shifter inside the cabin. that is the question... is there anything else really??? practical the same car besides the ls1 and t56, so there can't really be more to it no?

oh, now that i think about it what should i do for a pcm?

Uhhh.. Its going to be a lot of work..

I suggest you head over to the LS1 conversions area of the site and start browsing around there before you just jump into this project.

For the swap, I'm sure I am still missing stuff:

- LS1 engine
- T56 trans
- M6 ECU, wiring harness
- K-member
- Driveshaft if it's a 2 piece
- Fuel pump

If the V6 is not a Y87 package f-body, then you'll also need:
- V8 steering rack
- Rear end

Depending on the years of the cars, you might need other stuff. Check this link out: http://www.tacreationsusa.com/3_4_3_8_v6_to_ls1.htm.

I'm actually going to be starting the same thing very soon.
