Default High hp daily driver.

I'm looking to build a n/a engine. It will be placed in a daily driver (a swap into a prosche). I'm hoping the engine will pull out north of 400 horses. Is this actually feasible and how would I do this. I'm looking to do long trips with this and it needs to be able to be a dependable daily driver. I have a Ls1 block that I'm working with.
I know I can get close with a very agressive cam but that makes my gas mileage go to hell. I know there's no perfect solution and mpg will never be decent but I'm looking for the best options. I'm willing to put a lot of work on the engine, so milling a deck, boring, forged pistons, or w.e. it takes.

Im hoping your putting it into a 928 or 944 first off. If your starting with that block then use ls6 heads or aftermarket ones (most any that are not direct replacements will do due to the port work) and a cam grind of at least 23x. combined with a ls6 or fast intake mani, headers and tune your can make 400whp nice and good....which leads me to my question...a porsche?

Duh your screen says bp944 so im assuming a 944 is your choice of vehicle...and i can see why you want a v8 in it

I'm still new the lsx game myself but, from what i have read you want to make sure your heads are designed to support you cam. You should look through the III Gen internal forum, tons of info on cams and heads. You could also hit up PredatorZ or PatrickG, both of those guys are head and cam gurus. Hope this helps and good luck with the build.

I DD with an ms3 cam (237/242, .603/.607) and ported/milled/big valve 5.3 heads and all the supporting stuff. With the 3800 stall, I am averaging about 15 miles a gallon right now... Hope that helps.

Why did you go for 5.3 heads? Do you have forced induction because doesn't a 5.3 head lower compression by a lot?

they were a great deal and had ALL of the work done to them already. My CR with this combo is 11.5:1 and I have no plans of using any forced induction on my car.

Small turbo and exhaust will get you to 400 hp and get good gas mileage and driving won't change much at all... 10lbs of boost will do the trick easily. Plus the cool factor of the turbo is awesome it's self. Either that or small cam like stated^^^ and also ls6 plenum with full exhaust and tune!

5.3s actually bump up compression. If you're on a stock short block with 5.3s, then you should be around 11.1:1 CR.

^i believe the 5.3 heads have smaller valves then the 243's and do not flow as good. if you want more compression just mill the 243's
