low oil presure and loud ticking??
hi recently after my car warm up my oil presure drops really low and i start to hear a loud ticking noise that sounds like a lifter or something but it dosent do it when the car is cold only when it warms up..... it also fluxuates at times when i start it again when its warM??
could it be because i added lucus which is really thick or is my oil pump going out?? also could it be the pcv? cause i ripped the hose after the cam swap and never replaced it.... some one told me it wasnt important just crankcase ventalation?? plz help
mods:ms3 cam pacetter longtube...
soon: fast 92 with throttle body

sounds like a lifter going out. Does it make the noise the entire time your driving. I would replace the oil pump and lifters/trays. also check your oil pump pickup tube o-ring

Low Pressure.
So I installed a brand new slp oil pump after my stock pump went out. No it's not a pinched o ring, was installed correctly. Although the pressure is a little better it's still very low when it warms up.. When driving steadily at 70 or so it's at about 11-14 psi.. and when i romp on it, it doesn't move passed 35 psi. No heavy ticking sounds but enough to hear their could be a problem. Sounds a bit like it's not getting oil to the top end or at least enough. Lifters have anything to do with oil pressure? Crank bearings? I really could use the help. And yes I have checked and bought a brand new oil pressure sending unit. I'm using a K&N oil filter.

It's sounds like oiling issues...
I had a ported high volume oil pump which is supposed to flow more but the pressure was low. I didn't like it so I put a brand new OEM oil pump... problem solved.
Another time I thought I was sure that I didn't pinch the oil pump O-ring and sure enough it was pinched... put a new O-ring... problem solved.
With the pinched O-ring the valvetrain became noisy once the car got up to normal operating temperature.
Also, I just stay with AC Delco oil filters... they work and ... made in the USA.
