LS6 intake is a great mod but search classifieds a new one cost way too much money.

With an auto, a stall should be the very first mod. Next, find a set of headers, THEN get yourself a USED intake. Like said above, buying new is unnecessary as there are a large number of them in the classifieds.

Is the LS6 intake still the one to go with on a 5.3 build, or would I be better with the LS1?

And if you do the ls6 intake, do the new style ls6 valley pan & pcv mod and steam tubes too.

if you get an ls6 intake do headers at the same time to notice a real increase. just an intake isn't worth it to me spending the money. you can find used ones for real cheap on here

My honest opinion is unless you cam the car so it will need to breathe better you will never notice it is on there. As said earlier do a stall first then headers IMO...

A stall is probably THE best mod for an auto.......but if you want to go the route you mentioned, an LS6 intake + ported stock TB will make for some nice gains.

Buy used as others have said. I got my LS6 last week for $320 SHIPPED form the classifieds here.
