SLP loudmouth? 98 Trans Am?
I just bought a 98 Trans Am that has a flowmaster 80 series muffler on it? Is a SLP Loudmouth Cat-Back exhaust any louder? does it have better performance?

The Loudmouth is motherf***ing loud! Haha, hence the name. With stock manifolds and cats it sounds great, but once you put on some longtubes and cat-less y-pipe the Loudmouth gets REALLY loud and REALLY raspy. That's the only issue with my Loudmouth. I'm going to put on a Borla XR1 muffler in place of the SLP resonator and call it a day. And yes, you would probably notice a slight increase in performance. The loudmouth is not very restrictive.

I deleted my muffler. Just put straight pipes instead of any muffler. The flowmaster I put on was just as quiet as the stock muffler.. on my ta with long tubes and no cats and loudmouth1is just too loud..

There's not a lot to a loudmouth which is part of the reason it is cheaper than other cat back systems

The Loudmouth is very loud. I have long tubes with no cats (till this weekend) and it puts out a mean sound, I don't have a raspy sound either. It is noticeably louder than my buddies T/A (same year and nearly identical mods) with flowmasters, but thats all I have to compare it to.

I took off my SLP long tubes and TSP rumbler TD's over the weekend and put stock cats and manifolds back on and SLP LM1 in preparation to lower the car. It sounds amazing. Its about twice as loud as the TD's and has the tone I like. I'm very happy with it. It is loud but not to the point of being obnoxious (I think, but my hearing is very, very poor).

Yeah the LM is really loud. From what i've read though when you put LT's on the sound quality is a love hate thing. To me Flowmasters belong on mustang GT's. They should just put them on at the factory and save people the hassle.
From the youtube clips i've watched the hooker aerochamber is a good sounding catback that won't break the bank and will prolly sound good with LT's and OR-Y pipe.

I put the SLP Loudmouth catback exhaust system on my car first and it sounded great and I felt some added performance. Although when I added the SLP longtube headers, SLP cats, and SLP y-pipe I could really notice a difference in power as well as sound. With the SLP set-up there is basically zero restriction the entire way back. I think you will be happy with the SLP catback, but won't be fully satisfied until you have headers whether they are SLP or not. The SLP headers are pretty pricey. Good Luck!
