Default Ram Air Hood on a regular trans am?

I want to put a ram air hood on my 98 trans am but the car is not a ram air. would that be okay? I just want that aggressive muscle look.

Trufiber makes a great one! Heck why not go ws9 with heat extractors. Or get a raptor hood either way there all great hoods that are light weight

You can do it no problem. OEM ones are very expensive though. Heres my trufiber WS9 I just got. Looks great, getting it painted soon.

It'll work just fine and it has a slit cut on the inside front that will channel the air into the bottom of your air box which makes it functional. The trufiber hoods are a great piece. We just put one on a buddies T/A and it fit like it was factory. No adjusting other than the bump stops for the hood.

Yes, you can. Where are you located? I Just removed my WS6 hood and replaced it with an WS9 Outlaw hood. If you're local you can have first dibs on it.

For a little more you could go with a WS9 "Outlaw" hood. IMO the WS9 Outlaw would probably give you more of an aggressive Muscle look than the truefiber. The difference is that it is made by VFN and the scoop on the hood sits about 2" taller than the truefiber WS9. The Trufiber WS9 is the same height as a OEM WS6 hood.

here's a link to my WS9 Outlaw Hood, it's unpainted because I just installed it.

I was looking for a Ram Air hood for the longest time, but I really wanted OEM. I've heard horror stories about some of the aftermarket ones. Some people were having all kinds of issues with them not aligning correctly, warping over time, etc.

I picked up an OEM Ram Air hood a few weeks ago, and bolted it on. Needless to say, it fits like a glove. While it's true that you will pay more for the OEM, but in my opinion you're paying for much better quality.

I will agree with you on the fitment and quality. I'm not knocking VFN but I will say that the OEM hood is much more stout than my new WS9. Fitment with the new hood was pretty good. The WS9 is also about 30lbs lighter than my old WS6 hood so it helps with weight reduction.

not sure if Roger at US Exotics is still making his WS9 hood or not, but I got mine about two years ago and I love it. Way better than the flat hood

I love my WS.9 Outlaw...the one I have was actually one of the early ones Roger at USE did, before VFN started making them. The extra cowl height in the back makes the car look a lot more aggressive. Unfortunately, mine's gone unpainted so long the gelcoat is completely gone and I'm not sure if a body shop can save it...glad to see VFN picked up the Outlaw design, since last I checked (a couple years ago), they were just making the regular WS.9 hood.

Roger @ US Exotics sold his mold to VFN and quit making the WS9
