Default lets talk emissions

im gonna be stationed in colorado soon and i hear the emmisions tests are strict there (have to pass emmisions to get a pass to park on base). my car has no cats because of the long tubes i installed. and the egr is deleted bc of the ls6 intake swap. ses light is on because the 02 sensors are going nuts since i removed the cats. would i be best off to just buy 02 simulators and weld in a hollow cat after the y pipe? or would they actually run that thing up in the exhaust pipe to check the gasses coming out?

Well, if they use a sniffer you're screwed unless you put cats on. But if they're just gonna plug up to to your ODB II port then you have a few options, sims being one. I'm not sure if you're able to just tune out the post cat O2 sensors on these cars without having issues; but if you can that's probably your best bet.

Yeah, you don't want to start farting around with the sensors before your cats. If you use sims on the ones after where your cats were you should be okay.

o2 simulators have been known not to work. It is best to take it to a tuner who will tune out the rear o2 codes.

If they also have a visual on top of OBDII check, then you need either gutted or fake cats.

If they have a sniffer test, you're screwed and need cats.

Find out exactly what is required for the emissions testing and go from there.

I agree with everything in this post except the O2 sims not working. I have sucessfully passed the OBD scan test both with O2 sims, and later with the O2 sensors deleted with custom tuning. I have also seen many others pass with sims. If they didn't work for someone, I'd have to say it was because the sim was bad, otherwise they worked great when functioning.

Is there not enough room to put a pair of high-flow cats after the longtubes?

That's interesting. I have not had any personal experience with them, I just remember reading in one of the stickies that o2 sims don't always work, so I was just regurgitating that information.
