Default 85mm throttle body

Looking to purchase one of these... whats the difference over stock power wise? and will it work with an ls1 intake, and an MTI lid and stock maf? I don't want to buy it and still need more things right away. thanks

my brother has one, when he put that throttlebody on with a ls6 intake, he gained about 6 rwhp with a tune... since it works with a ls6 intake i don't see why it wont work with a ls1 intake... to me i don't know if its worth it, my bro paid about 500 for both pieces from a member and only gained 6 rwhp... i think that money you pay for one can go towards a cam or nitrous kit

^^^exactly. A bigger throttlebody alone won't net you much power at all. Throttle-response will go through the roof though which is the biggest difference. The LS1 intake is actually a restriction period which is what you should be looking into swapping for atleast a LS6 for a couple more horses. If it bolts to an LS1/6 and has a three-bolt pattern then it will work. The MAF to Throttlebody coupler should fit without a problem also. I got the stock coupler to fit a 85mm Z06 MAF to a 95mm throttlebody with a little love

Port the stock TB and spend the money on a LS6 manifold

Yeah, until you have more than a 75mm plenum inlet a
bigger TB will help very little. Smoother, would be nice.
Home-port it and call it "good enough for now".

I have a SLP lid, 85mm MAF, and 85mm BBK all on a LS1. I thought it was worth the $350 bucks at the time, next up is an LS6 manifold for me. If money and smog checks weren't an issue I'd step up to the FAST stuff. You never know what mods you'll want to do in a couple of years.

Its something you're going to need at some point if you keep the car long enough.

Which throttle body are you looking at getting?
