what rear ends will fit?
i think the rear end in my car must have been swapped before because i have 2.43 (if i remember right) in there now and its an m6. new gears are around $200 and ive seen whole rear ends for sale for $150. there is even a ford 9" for sale for $50!
i dont really want to try to swap gears because ive never done anything like that and i dont want to destroy them by not doing it right. swapping in a rear end with shorter gears already in it seems much easier.
will a rear out of a 94 bolt right on to my 2000? will a rear end out of any other car fit? the 9" i found was out of a '80 f-150 and ive seen a few 94's being parted out
anyone know what gears are in the 94s? would it be worth the swap?

Dont know of any 2.43 gears... Maybe 2.73s from an auto. You said you had the speedo problem fixed with the diablo so ill leave it at that.
The 94 rear will fit in your car. If the car was a stick 3.42s, auto 2.73s or 3.23s. Its probably a 3 channel (no tcs) but will bolt right up. You will need your ls1 brake brackets unless you want to use the lt1 brakes.

yeah look for a moser 9" or a moser 12 bolt, new they are both over $2K and used you can find them between $1K and $1.5K usually. But if i was you i would run your stock 10 bolt until it breaks, some of them are stronger than others and will last a while, my buddy with a 98 Z28 H/C/I nitrous car ran his stock 10 bolt over 50K miles before it broke and thats taking it to the track once every month or so

i wish i could go buy a moser 9" but i just dont have the cash for that. i was going to get a used rear from an m6. would going from 2.73 to 3.42 be worth the swap? i dont want to waist the time and money if i wont even notice

I know going from 2.73 to 3.42 with my stalled auto made a big difference in throttle response and around town driving. I'm sure it would do the same for an M6. 2.73 probably sucks pretty bad with the 6 speed. I would do it if you can find a cheap 10 bolt already set up.
