I'd say the 243's are much more common.

I didn't know that ls2 and ls6 heads were interchangeable. That can't be right, they're different generation motors.

I thought this was pretty common knowledge here, but I guess not.
The 243s were used on the LS6 and LS2 along with some later 5.3L truck engines.
The LS6 had sodium filled valves, the LS2 and 5.3s did not.
There are 2 different castings of 243s, they are identical but the casting process was different resulting in smoother ports on the ones with a triangle casting mark below each plug hole. Google it and you can see some pics of what I am talking about. If you are going to have them ported this really doesn't matter.

GENIII vs GENIV doesn't really matter on the heads so much, the LS2 is still a cathedral port heads engine. People run L92s on GENIII LQ4s and LQ9s. GEN doesn't matter in this case.

Good info.

I was under the impression that they weren't interchangeable because of the different generation. Thanks for clearing it up.

^^ this^^, they require a 4.0 or larger bore and l92 heads have square intake ports that require a l76 intake or aftermarket equivalent.

Yes, but that is a function of the bore size, not the GEN. The L92 heads will fit on a LQ4 or LQ9 because they have a 4.0" bore.
