Doesnt sound right, Its about 1200-1400 just for the Cam parts brand new, A good set of heads is about 1200, Id say about $2500-$3000 for a good head and cam setup.

Cam swap is usually about $700 at a good shop and $700 for head swap is about right too. The springs on cam swap are time consuming.....

I just swapped my cam and timing chain/ gear today and it was super easy but my motor is on a stand. Would not want to think about doing it while it's in a car and can only imagine how time consuming the process would be. It's a simple job but would take forever. Take a look at the shop rate per hour and figure out how many hours they are thinking it would take.
