I'm sure the guy has racing/cars running through his veins... ive grown up around cars and my father works in the car business and i got a 2000 SS at 17 and still have it... its all about being responsible and understanding what the car can do... so i say beef it up dad and i agree... nice build list and good luck!

Just wanted to say good job Dad! Especially on getting your son into it! lol

I wish at that age I paid more attention to my dad now ( 21 and regretting it) But, it's not all my dad's fault Ididn't like it. I was a bit mature, but I had no thought process into cars at all, although my dad did buy a project 93 mustang for me. He forked over and labored on getting it built while I sat and complained. :/ feel like an *** for it now, but, when army said "gear up let's go play in the sand" we had to sell it. lol. Really good to see Father / Son project's they're always the best!

If your running at mooresville, you might not be pulling a very good 60ft. I never did.

fathers / son relations kick *** and I love racing with my dad

01 Z/28
FLT A4 H/C, SS4000 stall, Strange 12 bolt, full suspension
10.9@122 NA w/ 1.46 60 ft. @ 3600ish race weight.

pic from that day

We hit it with 150 shot 2 years ago, but not since the above combo has been tested. The car went 10.4@130 when it ran 11.4's NA.

gears are not really going to do much and a stall is where you will see big gains assuming you get good traction

good ex: We run a 3.42 gear, 28" DR and SS4000 in my dad's car and have cut the 1.46 60ft NA noted above. The car cruising down the hwy on OD at 70 mph in the 1400 rpm area.

your plans sound good...

LS6 heads with some work
LS6 intake
custom cam
headers
stall
drag radials
some suspension

This will be a solid low 11 sec car while still retaining good streetability.

good luck
