706 casting 5.3 Heads on NA LS1
Is there any advantage in running Stock (non-ported) 5.3's (#706) on a NA LS1 with stock cam/internals and basic bolt-ons (lid, headers, LS6 intake, etc) over Stock (non-ported 241's. Would the only advantage be an increase in compression? Would there be a dyno RWHP and/or Torque increase? What should I expect to pay for used stock 706's. What is the main application for 5.3's on the LS1 engines?

You would want to at least get the valves changed out to a stock LS1 valve size. Stock they are smaller and will give up some flow. The compression boost is nice but without the valves I feel like you might be taking a step back. We do a lot of porting on 5.3l heads and make sure to always put a larger valve in at the same time.

About how much would it cost me to have you port these heads and replace the springs with single springs? Or, is it better to do a core exchange for your ported 5.3's?
