Default Security System Elimination???

I keep having problems with my 1998 SS.

Every so often when I try to start the car nothing happens.....I need to let it set and reset the Vats security system.

I would like to get rid of it........
Is here a way to completely eliminate or bypass the system?

I already did the key bypass with resisters but must be having problems other places in the security system.

You need to have it tuned out, very common with LSx swaps into other vehicles. Go to the PCM/Tuning Section, a sponsor there can help.

Is the security light coming on? Shouldn't if VATS was bypassed correctly. PCM tune alone won't do it - the BCM enables the crank circuit to the starter and simultaneously sends a signal to the PCM fuel enable circuit. If the light isn't coming on something else is happening.

The security light comes on if the car does not start.......the car will start for me about 3 out of 5 times I go to use it, when it does start - no light.

You can hardwire around it, but honestly it's much easier to just have it tuned out!

You saying you can tune out VATS only in the PCM on a stock car and it will completely alleviate his issue? Not trying to argue, but the PCM doesn't read the key pelet value, the BCM does right?

Sorry I wasn't clear. Vats is in the PCM, and is easily tuned out. The common security issue is through the BCM and can be wired around. Sorry I was unclear there.
