Default Different year Lids

When looking at Lids some are identified to different years. '98-99 or '00-02. Is this only for the line that goes into the air box? Or is there some other modifications that would make a '98-'99 lid not fit a '00 vehicle. I am planning on removing AIR and EGR so I won't need that line anymore.

If you're going to ditch the AIR, then get a lid for a '98-'99 car.

I would just get the 98-99 lid. I stupidly bought the 00-02 lid and then deleted my air not long after. I made a plug out of a toyota rocker molding clip and it works and looks good but still wish I bought the one without the hole.

You don't need to but it will look better. You can make or buy a plug like I did.

Plug the hole where the tube is at in the side of the lid?

EGR delete has nothing to do with the lid at all. It's only the AIR system that interacts with the lid on '00-'02 cars. Just an FYI.

Now with headers it's a different story (as compared to the lids). Both the EGR and AIR systems interact with stock exhaust manifolds, so when ordering headers you will have to decide if you want to keep or delete these systems.

If you want to delete the EGR, but keep the AIR, then you'll need to get headers that have emissions connections for '01-'02 cars only (this is because there was no EGR system on the '01+ cars, so the only emissions connection to be found on the manifolds was the AIR system).

If you want to get rid of everything, then just get race style (non-emissions) headers. Or, you can always put block-off plates on headers that have EGR and/or AIR provisions.

yes sir, I'll get a pic of mine later. It actually looks great but if your getting rid of air just get the lid without the hole in the first place. I would delete them both if you're getting headers. It cleans up the engine bay and I've heard of the emissions tubes breaking on aftermarket headers so I would just get the race ones.

I'm also concerned about the LS6 intakes too, w/o EGR they're cheaper then with EGR That's why I want to remove the EGR when I do headers to get the LS6 cheaper.

I'm not sure what the big deal is really. EGR removal is simple, especially if you plan to get an LS6 intake (that way you don't have to fill the hole left in the LS1 intake when you delete the system).

And, if you're planning to do intake & headers, you're going to need a tune anyway, so deleting the EGR codes can be done at the same time.

None of this is a problem, because you live in IL. We do not have visual or sniff inspections here, and you can easily pass the OBD scan test with EGR removed if you have a custom tune.

As for AIR, this is present on all model years of LS1.
