Just read all the stickies you can and browse all the forums in here. That's how I started. I skimmed through the newbie section here a lot and read any thread that interested me. "How much HP does a lid give you?", "Can you port your own throttle body?" "What clutch should I get?" ect... If you read enough threads you will start to learn fast.

most mods cant harm your motor. it can get to a point where youll need to build up your drivetrain if you start exceeding OE power limits.

just plan mods out and itll save you alot of trouble and money.

The lid has nothing to do with Ram Air or Cooler Air. The stock Lid cones down really small and hinders air intake and also has baffles inside that slow down air intake. An aftermarket lid has a nice big neck the size of the MAF to help air flow and is smooth inside.

You don't need a ram air hood to do a cold air intake. Just get a nice cold air intake like a Fast Toys Ram Air, Super Sucker, or Chris1313.

I have a nice mod list with prices I can post up of the most common mods for our cars if you want.

I could post a build list too buuuuut......

Think blueknight has a decent outline. IMO, shop some of the better vendors who build cars and not just sell parts. Bolt on goodies are pretty cookie cutter. Some better than others (usually get what you pay for). Dont rush, think combo when buying performance, do your homework and you wont spend redundantly.

thanks for the list. gives me an idea of what im looking at. im not worried about emissions even though being street legal would make smog easier. but i dont want to hold power back, and i know emissions make a difference.

this is true. also consider you could spend a shitload of money to squeeze out a handful of ponies while trying to conform to that... meanwhile, some guy in kansas is spending much less to make much much more power.

you should check out the regional section and meet up with guys in your area. they can give you some ideas.

before you open your wallet, try to figure out what you want the end result to be and plan it out. research the hell out of it and keep an open mind. otherwise you could end up wasting a lot of money and have a garage full of spare "performance" parts (that nobody else wants).

Welcome!

One thing I highly suggest in this forum is demanding pictures (or additonal pictures) of other member's girlfriends, ex-girlfriends, wife, or attractive female friend when they come up in a conversation, signature, or pic of a car...

here, I'll show you how...
