Default CAI or ram air?

so ive seen some people with volant cold air intakes and as wondering if the cold air intake is a mod that will actually give some hp gain. i have an 01 ss with the factory ss ram air hood and i have the usuall bolt ons just wondering if doing a volant or whatever company CAI would be a waste of money or if the ram air doesnt really do **** and i should get a CAI

Ram air has only been proven to work around 200 mph. Other than that its the cold air that works. I think they are mostly all the same.

ive had the SSRA for a few months now, DD or track i like it so far. gained just a little over 2/10ths in the 1/4 and ive had no cooling issues even in stop-n-go traffic..but if you have a bodykit or front spoiler youll have to modify that to work with the SSRA. i simply screwed the front lip up to the stock bumper and it pulled it up far enough for the SSRA to have a direct airflow and it didnt even alter the front looks any. i personally think the SSRA is worth the cash over the free air mod..but i have no experience with stock ram air..of course you have to ask yourself...when is stock ever good enough?

Has anyone tested how well that ram air kit (undercar) works on a T/A or Formula? The tests I've seen are with a Camaro, I don't think my car would get any gains from it as it already has an almost direct flow of air to the airbox.

Didn't see that this thread got ressurected lol. I got the ssra and installed it and I love it. No cooling issues at all. The stock radiator shrouds are more restrictive than the ssra
