Talking Camaro T56 Shifter?

What shifter would you guys recommend? Also, does anyone know where one could buy the dash trim 98,99 camaros that have the grayish dash. When I bought the car, the previous owner had some tacky ones put in so I want original.

I have had the pro 5.0 shifter as well as the stock hurst shifter that came in the car I have now. Both feel about the same. A lot of people like MGW, but I don't think you could go wrong with any of the above. If I were to buy one I'd go MGW to see what the big deal is.

You could try to get it from a dealer, but several items in the correct "Dark Gray" color for the '98-'99 cars have been discontinued by GM.

FYI. In some cases, GM has just substituted the old "Dark Gray" part number for the newer "Ebony" part number. I tried to order a center console lid once in Dark Gray, and what arrived was an Ebony model...and that was the only part number listed as active for this item on a '98-'99 car.

Yeah, I think I will go with the MGW shifter. And for the dash trim I will try GM dealers and see if they have the dark gray one. Its a nightmare finding them!

I think I will end up spray painting the trim with a vinyl paint. Any suggestions to the color? I found a dark charcaol at autozone...really similar

Call Dupli Color. Needed to touch up my engine bay. Told me what color to buy. Matched perfect.

No luck with Dupli Color! Anyone now whats the best vinyl spray paint for the 1998-1999 dark gray interior. I want to get as close to the orignal as possible.

I would think you would want a stain, not a paint.

Bring a piece of the plastic and match it up in the store or buy all the gray cans of paint and bring them back home to match the color. Use adhesion promoter first on the plastic. A body shop has access to interior color rattle can stuff too. Just more expensive.

I will take a piece off an take it to autozone and see what matches best. Also, I noticed that he painted over the original color! Do you guys recommend using paint thinner or lacquer to strip the paint off. The original color is under but I need something to strip the paint over it.
