Thanks, the intake says LS1 on it so it must be a 04 model. I just bought a 02 formula and was told the 350hp gto head better heads. When I was looking at the numbers on the heads the gto motor and mine both have 241. I really don't see a difference in the intake either. I was just curious as to why the 04 gto was rated more horsepower.

what someone was telling you is the heads on the 05 06 gto are better but that is cause the engine is a ls2. the ls2 engine uses 243 ls6 heads and they are better than 241 ls1 heads.
but there is no difference betwen a 02 formula and a 04 gto ls1 engine they are the exact same engine

You had the wrong mustang bro. My mach 1 would eat h/c ls1s up . The thing is...there is ALWAYS someone faster. I had a relatively quik mustang but I have always wanted an ls1. Sold my mach 1 and got a TA.....love it!!

There are some differences between the ls1's in the gto than the fbodies. One of the key ones is the depth of the head studs that you'd need as they are not as deep as older 98-02 ls1's
