Default Looking to buy an f-body

hi, i am currently in the market for either an ls1 or an lt1. today i went and looked at an 01 ls1 trans am. When i got to looking at it the owner told me that he is the second owner and he bought it and apparently blew the motor a couple of years ago and he swapped in and ls6 from an 05 cts-v. The car has 106,000 miles on the odometer and he says the motor has about 30,000. He also has cross drilled and slotted rotors, a borla catback, and 4.11 gears. other than that it is stock right down to the stock air box of the ls1 which i thought was weird. Hes asking $9,500. i was wondering if that was a good deal and if so should i be looking for any issues. also i would like to know if there is a way to tell the difference between the ls1 and ls6 just so i know hes not pulling a fast one on me.
thank you for your help.

if what he said is true ,and it checks out then its not to bad of a deal, check out the cars for sale on tech, this time of year there are lots of great deals, honest if your price range is around 9500, you can get a very nice ride, just take your time and find the right car.the car you looked at ,does it have a rearend?

Keep looking ... there is 106k on everything, but the engine (if he is telling the truth). There are much better deals to be had. It is still a 106k WS6 that books at $7,000. "BOBS99SS" is right, this time of year is a great time to buy and with the economy the way it is, it is a buyers market!

Just don't rush i was looking at a 98 z28 with 80000 miles for 10000 and then found a 02 ws6 with 60000 and bought that and am glad i did. Just dont rush it. Also you dont know how well everything was replaced and how hard he ran the car.

yeah i honestly was looking for something with little to no mods because to me working on a car to make it faster is half the fun. Do you think i would be better off getting an ls1 or an lt1 value for money wise that is. i have seen a few nice ones for really cheap online. i know this is an ls1 forum but im just looking for opinions.

If you are looking to mod your car then an LS1 is your best bet. The aftermarket is much bigger for LS motors. F-bodies have come down really far in price, so keep looking and I'm sure you can find a good one for a good price.

Hands down, an LS1. They respond much better to mods. Keep in mind that with a stock car, you will putting alot of money into it that you will NEVER get back out. If you find one with some of the major mods already done to your liking, you will save a whole lot of money and have more money to continue modding. Trust me, if you search and negotiate, you can find something for trade-in value and get $1,000's in free mods. Just keep looking and be patient.

You can get a nice ws6 with 75000 miles for that price most likely.

i picked up my ws6 a year ago with 55k on the clock for 10k, but there were several i looked at for 7k or less with 80 to 100k on them.
