Default Thinking about getting an off-road Y

Thinking about getting an off-road Y. What do you guys think? I'm thinking 1. I can gain some power 2. I don't have to take manifold bolts out 3. It bolts right up so if I want to reinstall my factory catted Y, I just do it. I'm looking at the Dynomax 88028 at Jeg's. Will I lose alot of ground clearance?

Yeah you're gonna scrape sometimes, i have a 3" catted Y, stock height and i will scrape occasionally. I've given oval tubing a thought..

No, it's stock height. It's a 2000 firehawk.

why not get headers instead? I dont see why someone would get an ORY with a stock exhaust. Its not gonna give that much more HP cus the rest of the exhaust is still 2.5"

Removing stock cats will give me several more HP. I am thinking of an ORY because it's alot easier to do and to go back to stock also.

Would a aftermarket ORY change the sound in any way?? And how much HP would it add? I never really heard of it that's why ..

Removing cats will give some top end HP. Especially once
you've cammed it.

You might look at Mufflex tubes (LS-2000CP) which are a
straight swap for the cats. The stock Y looks crappy but
pipe is pipe, more or less, and the ovaled section is not
a real big deal in the larger scheme of things.

Swapping the tubes in and out for cats is easier than
messing with the whole Y deal. And your ground clearance
is unchanged.

I have a Magnaflow waiting to get installed, but I've been running an O/R Y through the stock manifolds and the base SS/WS6 catback for like 4 months now. It's definitely louder and deeper sounding than stock at idle and from like 1000-2000 RPM, but beyond that it adds a pretty raspy tone to the car. It's not bad sounding, but definitely not my favorite setup.

Car feels like it pulls very slightly harder up top, but other than that, I can't tell one difference from when I had the stock catted Y, other than the sound of course. Not sure how anybody can pick up .5 tenths with just a cat delete, I don't see that happening.

They sound very raspy, which i personally hate. I've ran stock monifolds with ory and it didnt really pick up the car. Longtubes with high flow cats and cutout is my personal favorite
