Default 00 Z28 needs engine (Options?)

I was looking and found a clean Gen3 5.3L Shrt block out of a 2005 GMC Sierra with 30k miles. It comes with 853 heads.

This has the LS6 style aluminum block. Inside engine is clean and gorgeous.

As a newb is this a good starter setup to perform upgrades from?

This car will be a cruiser first adn foremost, but have the ability to take it to the strip.

Thanks All.

John

$500

Or I can get a complete 5.3L out of 2000 Silverado little dirtier but complete for about the same.

Do I go clean and buildable or complete and have to tear down?

Get the most powerful one you can afford??? Used ls2,3,6? Take advantage of the opportunity if you have the money.
