What size of gears do 98 Trans Am's come with? Going to upgrade, which size is better 3.73's or 4.10's. Thanks for any info!!!

Auto or M6?? With an auto I think 3.73 is as low as I'd go. With the M6 4.10 is very nice but be ready to lose MPG and traction is very hard to come by in 1st and 2nd without drag radials

Manual cars all came with 3.42 gears. The best gear upgrade for them is 4.10's.

Automatic cars came with either 2.73 or 3.23 gears. If you look inside the drivers door there will be a white sticker with a code on top. GU2=2.73 or GU5=3.23 gears. Regardless of which it is the best upgrade gear for an auto is 3.73's.

f-body's 98 automatics were 2.72 or 3.08 and the performance axle was 3.23 and the manuals were 3.42.

2.73 and 3.23 were your factory choices....for automatics at least.

A4...2.73 and 3.23's
M6...3.42

A4 go 3.73 with a high stall torque converter
M6 go 4.10

I'd go with 4.10's for both auto and manual as they can be used deep into the 10's without having to go into 4th gear...great for heads/cam combos that spin up to higher rpms.
