Buy 6 quarts. I use 5 3/4 in mine and it gets just a bit over the full line.

I used Castrol Edge syntec 10w30 in my last change. They didn't have Royal purple though, but next time I will use RP.

Change your oil and check to see if your motor consumes any every few weeks until you get an idea if it burns any oil and how much.

I always use 6 quarts, Royal Purple 10W30, WIX filter, and 1 can of BG MOA in all my cars. Seams to work the best for me. Did the previous owner always run full synthetic in it?

There is no best... run what you want. I have used GC Syntec 0-30, Pennzoil Ultra 5-30, and now im running mobil1 5-30.... no difference in any. I like to say as long as u change your oil regularly, it really doesnt matter.

As for amount, I just posted this in another thread, but use 6 quarts, and run a bigger oil filter, I use mobil1 M1-206. This way you can use all 6 quarts without overfilling or keeping 1/2 full bottles rolling around.

Its designed for tons of cars, but its most commonly know as the truck filter. Been used in the silverado, tahoe, suburban, list goes on. The filter is just a bit longer then the stock one, sits pretty flush with the oil pan.
