Default 5.3 ls harness

im in the process of doing a ls swap into a mustang but wanted to use the factory donors truck gauge cluster. since my car is a 96 i need to retain obd2. i was wondering since i have yet removed the cluster from the truck, how does the engine harness feed the gauges. is it a direct line say from tach to cluster or does everything route threw the ecu? should i buy the dash harness as well or is this not needed and just use the mustang dash harness?

Default

A lot of it is fed through the serial data line from PCM to IPC. Some wires such as VSS and RPM each use their own wire. You will also need the connector for the IPC which supplies battery, ignition, ground, turn signal signals, etc. Your best bet is to get wiring schematics for the wire harness you are going to use (year make model of truck) and connector end views for both the PCM and IPC. You won't need the entire dash harness if you string your own circuits.
