Default Which Intake do I need??

Sorry if there are already threads answering my question, but I could not find a solid answer anywhere. I have a 1998 z28 with basic bolt ons, Ive been reading alot about people swapping the ls1 intake for the ls6, I want to do this from what ive read. The problem is im in california and as you know I need the EGR so I cant delete it due to smog, So im wondering what would be the best ls6 or equivalent intake to get?

You can buy an ls6 intake with the EGR.

SLP ls6 is the direct bolt on intake you would want. IIRC there is one for sale in the classifieds, if my buddy didn't buy it to flip already. LOL

They sell for a bit more than regular ls6 intakes.

You can make a regular intake work just got to drill a little.

Because he has a 98, and CA emissions inspectors verify your car has all the original emissions gear still in it for your model year, according the manufacturers specs.

Ahhh makes sense. Man I'm glad we don't have to deal with that **** in Michigan. I install inground pools/heaters. Even the heaters sold to CA (I think only CA) have to have an emmision style heater for their state. Ridiculous..

Just get a BBK SSI intake. It has the spot to bolt in the EGR tube.

My dad works for a laminate flooring company and they have to make special packaging just for California verifying that its formaldehyde free (because it gives off fumes) and that it is believed by the state of California that wood dust potentially causes cancer

I suggest buying a used intake, a new Ls6 intake is a waste of money IMO. They don't have "Wear and tear" on them like a cam/gears/etc..

You will either have to grind the fins on the bottom of the intake/cut your stock coolant lines to make them them clear/ or get ls6 coolant lines.

I agree, just be patience waiting for a used ls6. Use that money for something else.
