IF you want to keep the stock cat back, maybe for a future reinstall. You would need to drop the rear down. Not a bigge but can be done in the driveway with help. I always do exaust work on 4 jacks. I try to get as much height as possible.

If you plan on chucking it out, Saws-all is your friend.

well i planned on keeping it just in case i ever wanted to return it to stock, but i figured i could always re-weld it back together if i had to cut it right?
i don't have four jacks, i have one, and i was just planning on putting the wheels on blocks do you think that would give me enough height? (the car has not been lowered)

if you plan on working on you car much at all i'd go ahead and invest in 2 sets of good jack stands(4 total). you'll be glad you did.

you could re-weld it back on but that just add's more to have to do later. soak all your exhaust bolts in PB blaster the day before you work on it and right before hand and just un-bolt it.

Headers are way more complicated than a catback so you should have no problems. I used a recip saw to cut the stock piping out or else I'd have to drop the rear and no way was I going to do that.

An oil change is all it would take. Unless you can bench 3500lbs. with your head, you need to buy some jack stands. End of discussion.

As for the catback install...soak the hell out of the stock Y pipe bolts to catback...and cut the overall pipe to pull the old stuff out. You will never want that POS stock muffler back on there.

Uh no you don't have to cut anything to install the new catback. It'll be a clamp together so you don't have a long welded piece to wrestle around with. It's really easy, you'll see as you get started... lay the pieces out first and you'll see how it will go.

The most time consuming part is getting everything aligned and tucked up high. I recommend you get some high quality band clamps as well. They'll be expensive but you don't want to cheap out on clamps. If you're welding then disregard.

Sorry man, just had to say it. Basic wrenches, floor jack, and 4 Jack Stands. Pry Bar, Saws all maybe and a helper. Depending on how rusty things are, soaking bolts in PB blaster ahead of time is good.

you shouldn't have a problem with the tools he listed. but for sure get some jack stands. never get under a car with it just supported by a jack. all it takes is that jack to fail for you to be squished.

i never even knew pypes made stuff for our cars. i think i've heard pretty good about them for mustangs though.

I used rhino ramps when I did mine if you don't want to use jack stands.

Ramps are the way to go. They make oil changes a breeze.

Hammer and chisel is what I used...a few good whacks and I had it loose.
