What is the difference between sealing the airbox to the WS6 hood and installing a ram air kit? Can you do both?

You can do both, but once you have ran an "under side air intake", the sealed to the hood part means little...

my brother designed a double taker ...
he has a custom hood where the air is directly hitting the engine/filter
and still can take the air coming from the air dumper below.
i don't know if that's good or bad but i'm defiantly going for it.
open up the Ws6 hood and create a custom filter box open both sides (up/down)

So I guess I'm confused as to how the under the car ram air kits attach to the airbox then? Also, what is the most common method for sealing the hood to the box?

Use weatherstripping to seal the hood to the box. 3/4" should do it IIRC. But first you'll need to remove the baffles from the hood to get a straight shot of air to the box.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was geting at....x2. Keep everything tight up top and open up with a chris1313... It's a nice setup.

I'd recommend the opposite. You already have the scoops. Open them up and seal them to the airbox and you have a direct shot of cold air without the issues that accompany pulling the air up from below.

Well I agree with this, because sucking up water from puddles etc is a pain. However, the fact is that these cars suck more air from below than they do from above. Aerodynamics is paramount when you're looking for inlet position on these cars...

A chrs1313 will make way more of a difference than the stock sealed ram air.

If you aren't an idiot your shouldn't have a problem driving in the rain.. If you are an idiot, you will probably have problems with a lot more than that in life anyway.

It's not just puddles, but dirt and heat soak on hot days ... True that the airflow is more pronounced from the bottom, but the engineis only going to inhale as much air as it demands anyway. Depend also if its DD or all out.

Filter should take care of the dirt... Most people say the only time they ever log higher temps is sitting for periods of time in traffic on 80+ degree days..... And at that, the most I have heard of is a 7 degree increase, not hardly enough to to matter when it is a proven +2mph mod.

Yep, FRA/FTRA/SSRA users have complained about filters getting dirty frequently for years now.

BGRA users have attested to similar results to the 2 mph figure. While I think the bottom feeder approach probably maximizes velocity at speed, a good scoop seal to airbox also has proven results. It's user preference, of course, but when you have the scoops already, knocking out the baffles and sealing it is a super simple and inexpensive approach.

I do honestly see what you're saying, since I do in fact see the point of ram air through hood ducts. I just dont' see it competing with a chris1313 as far as performance gains, and ultimate flow.

If your going to go all out and remove the AC condenser, go with the Mega Mouth SSRA or Chris1313. Since you own a WS6, I'd use the existing hood nostrils with weatherstripping.
