Default Motor mounts advise

I was reading about some people having issues with the steering shaft hitting the headers after doing the mounts swap. I want to know what do I do if I were to run into this problem. The thread ended with people just complaining and not posting solutions. Also if you've had this issue what headers were you running?

Steering Shafts hitting headers is a header design issue. Not a motor mount issue.

With LSx motors most run into that issue trying to run 2" Primaries. SOMETIMES 1-3/4" but rare. Most people will just dimple the header in, or run an additional joint. I know some that had to do a custom setup to kick out the shaft and bring it in.

Old LT1 Shafts are the worst due to a big huge lump in the middle, that always interfered with headers. (see LT1 Rag Joint)

From what I have seen it is RARE on anything 1 7/8" and smaller. Pollys will not flex much and will keep your Y pipe from banging the floorboard. I think you will be fine... Love mine!

Thanks guys...also will I feel a difference in power? My LT's bang the **** out of the floor. Could this be why I based with 298/321 and with ls6 intake and LT's with a tune I only made 308/331. I'm thinking the knock sensor?

I did poly motor mounts and 1 3/4 headers. When I went to put the headers in the steering shaft wouldn't allow them. I took the 2 bolts out of the shaft and the header slid right in, connected the steering shaft back and I"ve never had a rubbing/hitting/banging problems yet. eBay headers btw

Header design has came a LONG way since then. I remember the threads you speak of. The headers on the market now-a-days do NOT have those issues.

And get some damned motor mounts! LOL
