Default Higher oil pressure after oil change

Alright so I recently changed my oil with the Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic, what I normally use, however the parts store did not have any mobil 1 filters at the time and I got talked into running a K@N filter. Ever since the change the car idles at almost 80 psi upon cold startup, and settles down to the usual 40-43 psi at operating temp. Before the change it would be around 60-65 psi at cold startup. I read some other threads and it's leading me to think my K&N oil filter is maybe defective. Should this be a matter of concern? Thanks in advance.

40psi operating isn't anything bad, im not sure why you would worry about that. 80 seems a little high for cold but warmed up is what matters.

Yea I realize my operating temp pressure is completely normal,I just didn't know if cold temp pressure of almost 80 was a big deal or not.

Could be the filter, but I'm not sure if I would call it faulty. Did you put any more oil in this time then what you usually do? (I myself being a 1998 though with different oil temp gauge), operating temp is around 40 and cold start up is around 60. This is with 10w30 oil. I wouldn't say it's a big deal though, also probably within 1000 miles of driving that will drop a little anyways.

Nope, it has a little over 5 quarts in it now. Dipstick says it's right where it should be. I guess I won't worry about it.

That is odd. Wait for someone with a 99+ to chime in. I never had issues with my gauges for oil pressure since I'm a 98 but I wouldn't really worry about it much anyways. If you drive it a couple thousand miles and it's still at 80psi cold then I would wonder if something is wrong.

Iv'e has a 98 WS6 99WS6, 2-2002 WS6 it's normal, oil pressure is usually a bit higher in the LS1 anyway, but cold start up oil is thicker. These cars have great oil pressure and your gauge will ALWAYS fluctuate on acceleration...it's normal.

I have an 02 and 60-65 psi cold is my "normal". when I get on it I have seen it run at 80 at any temp. Don't know if the filter is just flowing that much better? Never ran a K&N oil filter. Since that seems to be the variable here, I wouldn't worry about it.
