Default First Mod- Verter vs. Headers, cut-outs

I have been doing some research for my 98 Trans am and was wondering which would be the better initial mod for an automatic. The prices for both, i have figured, are pretty close, $1004.85 (headers, cut-outs) and $1099.99 (Verter kit from tbyrne.com). I wasnt sure about installation, but i figured about $200 for the exhaust and $300 for the Verter. Which would be the best initial mod, and how far off are my prices?
Thanks alot
Bryan

Converter will give you the biggest difference that can be felt.

I was kinda dissappointed in the difference I got when I did the header install. It was not until I got my cam and did a dyno tune that the headers really started helping.

Converter will make a bigger difference than headers. What is included in this "verter kit"? My Yank ST3500 was only $732 shipped plus $60 for a B&M 24000 cooler shipped and less than $20 for fluid at AZ. Even with the TransGo shift kit ($100) I never opened, let alone used, was under $1000 total.

Wanna sell that shift kit? hahaha

Verter for more performance, and headers for sound and a little performance.

Its the Verter kit from tbyrne.com, it includes a Vig Verter of your choice, trans go shift kit, and the tranny cooler for $799 and I guess +shipping. I was planning on a 3500 stall. I was wondering if anyone has, had a private shop install and what was the price.

Ok, $799 isn't bad for all that. If I remember correctly I was quoted anywhere from $200-250 for just the verter and ~$300 with shiftkit, this was over a year ago so I could be wrong. I ended up getting it done free b/c a friend of mine works at a tranny shop.
