ls6 heads and intake to '98 ls1
I just bought a pair of 799s and going to have them cleaned up at the machine shop. I have really two questions. First, will an engine gasket set for a 1998 ls1 work with 799 heads and ls6 intake? Second, will single beehive springs with titanium retainers and chrome molly push rods be ok for a comp cam 232/234 duration, 595/598 lift cam? I think this is the most cam I can get without fly cutting the pistons.

To answer both your questions, yes the 799s and LS6 intake will work. Just remember with the LS6 intake you will have to either change your coolant crossover tubes, or shave the ribs on the bottom of the intake down to clear your stock ones. The beehive springs will work as long as they are good to .600" lift, however, myself personally, I would go with a dual valve spring kit as they are usually good to .650" or more, such as a PRC kit from Texas Speed. I find it's usually better to overbuild then underbuild lol. Just remember to always check PTV clearance when installing the cam.

ok, I did some research and then called Texas Speed. They were very helpful and recommended for my application a Texas Speed Torquer V3 cam with 231/234, .643/.598 and LSA 111. Now thats getting on up there to me. He said it would still clear PTV. I went a head and ordered the PRC 650" double spring kit with titanium retainers. The guy said .650" springs would be plenty for this cam. It should make some decent power with ported 799 heads and LS6 intake, I hope.
