Default 01 SS Vert Build Advise

Hi All,

Looking to purchase a low mile (30K) 01 SS Vert in the next month or so and I have some questions about a mild performance build up. The car is an M6 and is completely stock. I've done alot of reading and have a good idea of what I want to do but would like some opinions. My goal is to have a low 12s high 11s street car that looks stock. The only issue is the emissions laws. I would like to keep the exhaust manifolds and mid pipe but may get a Magnaflow Catback. Thinking of cam and head work and focusing in a valve job and bowl work with a mild 220ish cam. While the heads are off, new springs, and comp rocker arm mod. I figure a SLP Lid is needed and a tune. What else should I factor for? Oil pump upgrade? is there a good hand held tuner that can come programmed with a custom tune?
Thanks.

Any cam suggestions that will work with stock manifolds and mid pipe? Can 400rwhp / 400rwtq be achieved?

Try posting in the GenIII Internal Engine section for a quick answer. As far as tuning goes. Every car is diffrent so I would recommend getting it Custom tuned by a tuner.

for a vert dont forget to factor in some weld in subframe connectors for a vert as well as install a cage. as far as cages go the wolfe brand ones fit nicely. you really want to stiffen up that vert if you plan on throwing power at it.

Look up Bad30th on here. His 550rwhp car is legal here in CA. But it wasnt cheap. His setup is JBA shorties, stock y pipe with a Magnaflow, AFR 205s (which are legal here), a 02 to 04 LS6 cam and a Procharger (I forget which model, the entry level is CARB legal). You could also do a CheaTr cam and the AFRs with shorties, be at 400rwhp and be completely legal.

if your dealing with emissions laws contact Lingenfelter... Alot of their cams are designed to be emissions compliant
