Need Advice, What would you do? I just bought a 2002 Pontiac Firehawk, It has a cracked Block, my delima is should I try to fix it (if it can be fixed) and keep it original? it is 1 of 11 built, or should I try to find a different motor, I am new to this and dont know much about them, What is the Difference between the LS1 in a WS6 verses the LS1 in a Firehawk?

AFAIK, to keep it "matching numbers", you'll just need a replacement block from 2002. If the block is cracked, I doubt it can be repaired. Even if it could, not sure I'd want to be driving that car afterwards.
And a LS1 is a LS1 is a LS1. No difference between any of the LS1's for any given year. The engine in your Firehawk is the same engine you'd find in a '02 Formula, T/A, or WS6 T/A. The Firehawk may have a different hood, airbox, and maybe cat-back, but the actual engine itself is the same exact engine you'd find in any '02 LS1 F-body.

To keep it "numbers matching" you would have to keep and fix the existing block...no way around it.
As far as that, an ls1 is an ls1 but there are differences between years. However, each difference cancels out the next, so power wise, yes, they are relatively the same, but there are year specific differences.

'02 LS1 is the same from a Z28 to a Firehawk to a Formula to an SS. There is nothing specific about the actual engine that is at all dependent on trim level.

Get a new short block and fix it correctly. Keep the original block in storage and it will be there down the road if someone wanted to try and repair it to be matching numbers.
