Default LS1 vs. LQ9 weight?

i am new to the LS1 scene but very familiar to the engines themselves. I am wondering if the weight difference between an LS1 and LQ9 w/ aluminum heads is 80lbs or 60lbs? Ive read both on here. reason being its going in a Nissan 240sx drift car and i wanna know what mounts to use and what spring rate my coilovers need to be. all very critical at 80 to 100mph sideways. thanks guys

it depends on alot of things but my lq9 with 205 heads was around 66lbs heavier then my ls1 with same heads

solid engine mounts with a urethane tranny mount imo btw as for suspension i dunno what spring rate for drifting would be :-/

one more thing to add lol my bad is for a 240sx look in a lm7 5.3 lsx motor cheap reliable and u can boost it if not happy u can pick up a full longblock for 400$ where i live and u slap on 243 heads with a cam and longtubes arp headstuds cometic gaskets for under 1200$ and youll be 380hp+ if u need more info messege me as we have a local shop that does nothing but lsx swaps in 240's i can help u out

+1 to the above, someone else did that as well awhile back. Was surprised to see that much weight difference when I read it the first time. I imagine for drifting youd want to save the 100 lbs

for big power youll want the lq9 but generally between 80-100 lbs depending on internals, heads, bolts, studs, etc...lot of variables.

Unless you are going to have 1000+ a forged ls1 is fine

We weigh them every day for our shipments. If you are comparing an LS1 to LQ9 stock, with GM crank, rods, Hypereutectic pistons they seem to be 65-72LBS difference.

We have seen an average of 70lb difference between the iron and aluminum blocks.

I'd recommend AES or TSP but I am biased.
