Default my first ls1 fbody

First pontiac too.1998 trans am. Stock. My first ls1 but I have an ls6 vette and had an lt1 camaro. So I'm not new to ls, just my first ls1 fbody lol any suggestions on first cheap mods? Was planning on lid and k&n and bellow. Maybe port Tb and do the coolant bypass. Anything else to consider? How crucial is Getting a tune with a basically stock car?

You're on the right track with a K&N, lid, bellow, and ported TB. A tune with all that on top should put you in the high 12's. A tune on a lightly modded automatic will make a huge difference.

Yes unless you get a cheap brand. Are the stock balancers bad about splitting or is that just a vette thing? This is my dd so I gotta do stuff slow, which is why I'm doing this cheap easy stuff first

The parts classifieds will be your best friend for all this my first mod was a slp lid with k&n filter for $75 shipped to my door then a like new magnaflow cat back for $250 shipped to my door so it all depends on what deals you find and how much money u have to spend at the moment!!
