Default common problems with 01 WS6?

moderators, if this is in the wrong forum please move it.

i am goin to look at and test drive an 01 WS6 this weekend. its a very clean car and the only down side is that it already has 60K miles. i need to know if there are any common problems or anything specific i should look for. the car is an auto with i think 3.42 gears. as far as i'm aware its bone stock.

thanx in advance

WS6's most certainly do come with 3.42's from the factory. Non Ws6 models have options.

Interesting..... I thought my 01' WS6 came stock with 3.23 (so if it is an A4 a 3.23 gear and a M6 a 3.42 gear???)?

As for any known problems.... I had warped front rotors and frozen caliper but a slotted/drilled rotor and synthetic grease solved that. I have also seen many for any 4th gen voice that they have piston slap (sounds like dieseling and many claim this is OK). Also, you may experience oil loss, I do not, but many say they do.

Other than those I have had now problems and love the more rigid ride of the WS6 vs the Firebird or base TA.

A problem common to Ls1's is that the driver often cannot refuse smoking ricers, so if you find yourself laying the smackdown on all the riceboys in your town don't say we didn't warn you of the LS1.

Biggest problem I have is a horrible cramp in my right ankle and my floorboard has a dent in it!
