Buying a 2002 Z28 Camaro LS1, a few questions?
I found a 2002 Z28 A4 LS1 with Eibach springs, upgraded stereo system, t-tops, cloth interior with 28,500 miles for $17300.
Buying it from a dealer that I know that has checked it over real good.
A few questions:
1) I read that all 2002 V8-powered models benefit from wider speed rated P245/50ZR-16 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires. Since the tires are z-rated and it has the 150mph speedo, does the car have the speed limiter?
2) How does the price sound? The Kelly Blue book has it at $20,500
Thanks for the input!

With 28,500 miles, I doubt the original tires are still on the car unless they are bald. If they look like new tires, its hard to tell if your Z was a speed limiter car or not. Most of them do not have the limiter, as most dealerships ordered them with the upgraded Z-rated GSCs or RSAs. All speedometers are the same.
Price seems fair, but not really a smoking deal. Have a look at how much other 2002 Z28s are selling for, and check out our classifieds forum as well. Look at KBB.com and see what the trade-in value is, or the private seller value is. That might be a better range to shoot for (if it is less).

I've actually found Edmunds to be a decent indicator of the "real world" price that people pay for used cars. Kelly sometimes has a huge discrepancy between retail and trade-in values. Also, make sure and run a Carfax report and, if possible, see if the dealership can pull the service records. That's always good info to have.

KBB Private Party $18k
KBB Retail $20,750
Edmunds $18,500 for Certified Used Car
I checked cars.com and the 2002 Z28 going from 19k - 22k depending on mileage. I agree, not a fantastic deal but a decent one. The original owner had about $3-4k worth of stereo in it. Has the storage bin loaded with 2 huge Polk sub woofers built in, an 1800 watt amp and some other "amp" looking thing. I told the dealer I want the ghetto stereo stuff out and put a good deck put in. I will give the ghetto stereo stuff to my daughter to put in her car.
I will also have him run a carfax on it.
