Default To block seal or not to block seal?

I have what I believe to be a small coolant leak into the oil. By small I mean inside the oil fill cap there is a light yellowish goop. A very small amount. So I was thinking about putting some sealer in it to get it to the summer. (it's my sons car and he needs it for school) it does not over heat and in the last year I have only had to add a very small amount of coolant once. So what is everyone's opinion and if I do seal what is the best sealer?

Thanks in advance!

First off you may not have a cooling leak at all. Yellowish goop on the inside of the oil cap can be from moisture buildup from short trips which is very common. Nothing to worry about and it won’t hurt anything. Now if the oil itself is yellowish then you have a coolant problem. I would not put any sealer in it. I never liked them the can cause some havoc on the cooling system and sludge everything up. What I would do is top off the coolant level and monitor it for a while if it goes down allot then you probably have a coolant leak you need to address, if it stays there then you know its moisture buildup in the engine.

2000 is right. I was a little worried when I drove my car for a while on short trips I started to get a tiny build up. After watching the coolant and oil for a couple weeks nothing changed and I just assumed it was moisture buildup. Either way say away from the sealers.

Dont use sealers. Remember if it sticks to your block, it sticks to everything in your cooling system.

Is there anything I can do to help reduce the moisture? Has anyone replaced their PVC with the little breather filter things?

Sometimes just taking them on a nice long highway cruise can get rid of most moisture. There are countless post on here about LS6 valley cover conversions and catch cans and related PCV stuff. Browse around and you will find everything you need.
