Cool New guy a little disappionted

Hi, I have a 2001 pewter trans am. I have had it since sept. 2003 and yesterday was the first time I got it to the track. Not so pleased but that won't stop me from turning this car into a monster. Got to the track at about 11 a.m. and noticed it was Mach1 day for the ford boys all I could think was I get to hand some these boys there *** today but that didn't happen. the best I got out of my car was a 13.806 1/4 mile at 102.63mph. It was about 64 degrees and humidity about 60. I thought for sure after reading what some stock ls1's can do like low 13's I would at least close but not the case. My car is completely stock, I didn't even bother taking the spare tire out. Hopefully after some mods I can redeam at the track the next time I head out. I love the site lots of great info here.

Bro, don't worry. My first times sucked and my current times still suck for the mods I have in my Formula. I still haven't learned how to pilot it on the strip. It takes a lot of skill to race, just takes time to obtain it. Don't worry, keep practicing.

60'? That'll give a good indication of your driving skills.

Auto or manual? Options? Etc.

Don't feel so bad I ran a 14.0 1/4 mile time in my 2002 Z28. My car has a Lid Cutout, and Nitto Dr's. And I am a little better than a average driver.

I drove 30 min. to get to the track and stayed in line with the engine running, got to the tree, left my window down and ran 13.9 with a very warm engine. Then went home and bragged about it. I din't even lower the tire pressure in the rear of my BFG's. I figure if i came race ready, i would of dropped the times more. I just came to show up a punk at work that ran 14.9 with a 400 in his 67 camaro.

The first trip out is usually never pretty. I live in Milw, WI. First time to GLD ran a 13.19 (2.1 short time)immediately after going thru tech, on M+S all season tires in my 99Z. Car has lid, muffler, SFC's and predator. My launches suck because I' m trying to perfect a way to launch a car with a handcontrol(paralyzed from work accident) so trying to leave after a light brake stall is proving tricky. Gld ain't the greatest, but at least it's close.Your times will improve. Good luck!
