Default Just got 2001 camaro ss HELP PLZ

So I just bought it. Not my first car but first in manual transmission. So I bought it and the previous owner put a skip shift crap that I find useless and it makes learning manual way tougher. I'm grinding up all my gears and and this thing wants to take me to 4th gear when it feels like it and I'm trying to pull to 2nd and I just hear grinding. Please does anyone know if I need a tune or some eliminator or resistor and how will I instal it? Thanks

They sell kits, skip shift eliminators. Its just a plug and go. Or if you know someone with tuning software you can have it deleted from the ecu.

Thanks. I will see if it finally gets rid of that.

Actually this might even help shifting into reverse! Hopefully I can get everything running accordingly. Thanks again very much

The skip shift comes from the factory to get around the gas guzzler tax, it was not installed by a previous owner. When you meet certain conditions it will "lock you out" of second while the skip shift light is lit up on the dash. It should not cause any grinding however. If you are grinding gears there is likely a problem with your shifting technique, or a problem with the tranny/clutch.

^ this. Not much more I can add other than validate this post. I feel the easiest way is to tune it out via a tuner, but that will likely not be the cheapest route by far.
