Default ls1 blocks prior to 2001?

I'm doing a replacement engine swap on my 2001 camaro ss. I found a block but its from a 99 I believe. Where there any major differences between the blocks that may put me in a disadvantage?

No your fine, some small differences in the 98 block IIRC but don't quote me on that. Either way there is no difference that would hurt performance anyway.

There were a few differences in the block, but nothing that changes a build, they made small improvements over the years, bay to bay breathing and such, but all parts are interchange and with performance replacements the block has no differences. A percent of the last f bodies did recieve the ls6 block, as well as intake, but parts are still interop.

Alright guys, I just got my block today. I will try to post pictures of it and some of the block I pulled out of my ss. I also got my hands on a cam that comes from a 6.0. Would that require bigger springs,(I bet) and lifters?

A stock cam from a 6.0 would not need different springs, though I always like to put in fresh springs if I am doing a cam swap, that being said you won't need anything like a double spring etc. If it was my car I would look into a nice cam package with some lifters from a sponsor on here. A 6.0 cam wouldn't do much of anything for a power increase.

its my understanding that the early 6.0's ( built around the same years as the 4th gen ls1 cars) shared cam part number with the 99+ ls1

If you want to put a small cam in the motor without blowing the budget a ls6 cam would be good and matching yellow springs
