yes there was a lengthy thread that detailed a lot of mods, from free to high end. What to expect in horses per cost. I've read through it quite a few times over the years. Just keep searching, I think was called mods 101, or what every newbie needs to know, something like that - can't remember.

Best free mod? Lose some weight (and that goes both for you and the car).

Dont remove MAF screen... You will not feel anything power wise, will ruin your MAF in short period of time, i did it and it happened to me... That screen protects your engine from dubree that will get in your engine.

Easy mod is to simply clean your MAF sensor. You want real gains? Heads/Cam swap + dyno tune, it may not be cheap, BUT!!! Do it once do it right, but basic maintenance first and always!

The air filter protects stuff from going inside.

That is not that screens purpose.

I have put 40K+ on my cars with no ill side effects of no screen.

Free ram air mod, cutting bottom of air box out for airflow, works well, go thru filters quicker, but worth it.

What debris? That's the job of the filter.

And if there is any debris that gets past the filter, there is no way in hell that the MAF screen is catching it because it will be miniscule. Debris big enough to be caught in that screen will never get past the filter unless it has a hole in it.

My guess is he over oiled an after market filter and it messed up his MAF hence why he uses the OEM one.

Shedding weight will do more than all the above listed mods combined.

Don't know on the Fbody but on the GTO's relocating the IAT away from the engine heat is very popular as well as a fast acting sensor, can build one for less than $10. Also if relocating the IAT sensor make sure it is still pulling correct air temps.

The only correct air temp is the temp of the air going through the intake tube. Relocating the sensor is giving the PCM false info.

As mentioned weight reduction is a great e.t. mod, lighter is faster.
