Firehawk newbie needs help!
Ok this is the story I have a 00 firehawk 6M. The mods on it are lid, ported TB, MAF, Borla, High Flow cats, The car also has Heads and Cam done at LG Motorsports but no idea what type of Heads/Cam. The only thing that I have a problem with is that the gears and speedo are incorrect, I know stock for a 6M is 3.42 but this car can turn more than 80mph (corrected) in 2nd and nearly 100 (corrected) in 6th @ 2000 RPM's. So I am not sure what gears it has. Im guessing a 2.73 or maybe a 3.23?? What do you guys think I would see the best gains out of, I was thinking a 4.10 would really wake it up as the gears it has now are really long, and maybe fix my almost 15 mph off speedo at 55 it is going about 70. Also the biggest tire I want to run is a 315/17 nitto drag.

Man if you bought a firehawk and they put a 2.73 rear under it I would be pissed Seriousley the car should have 3.42's you might want to check the speed sensor. As far as gear LS1's seem to like 4.10's but 3.73's are just as good IMO.You should really check into why the car does not have its original gearset. And I would try to cantact LG about the car and see what I could find out They couldnt have done too many heads/cam firehawks

Thanks for the advice WickedHawk I have ruled out 3.42 using my brothers stock 6M SS with alot of tests. Our best guess is 3.23 Also I am wondering what type of gains should be expected from a 3.23 to 4.10 gear change on a Heads Cam car.

What is your wheel/tire sizes? That could be it. If you had smaller tires it will show a faster speed.
On stock wheel/tire size with heads/cam and 4.10's you will run out of gear in the 1/4. I did when I had heads/cam 4.10's. With 26" E/T Streets I went through the traps at 6000rpm's.
Peace,
Craig.

The size is 275 Bfg KDW on the stock firehawk wheel. Some of my buddies told me that the car must have been tuned or calibrated for 4.10 gears, but apon selling the vehicle they put in a new gear set therefore jacking the speedo. So are you saying a 4.10 is too big of a gear or that I need to run bigger tires, a 315 Nitto drag is the biggest I would like to go but I've also heard they make a E/T Street for a 17 inch rim 26x11 if i am not mistaken.

You could be right about the gear thing.
Yes with 4.10's with heads/cam you will run out of gear. You will need a tire at least 26" The E/T streets will "swell" up and make it stand a little taller and I went through the traps at 6000rpm's.
315 is the width, its not about how wide they are its height.
If you plan on getting 4.10's get E/T Streets, Drags or whatever in at least 26". If you ever plan on spraying it go 3.73's.
Peace,
Craig.
