Question OTC 6667 puller. Where exactly does it grip on to?

I need to get my stuck damper pulley of my truck 5.3.

I have tried 3x 3 leg pullers plus another different type of puller and broken all 4!

I see that the OTC 6667 puller seems to have great success but as it is quite expensive for something I'm only likely to ever use once I wanted to make sure it'll work on the truck damper.

Does it grip on to the 3x flat spots on the rear of the damper just in front of the front cover seal?

Thanks in advance.

It grabs the 3 flat spots on the back side of the pulley.

Yes, it grabs the tiny lip on the flat spot and works very nicely. Makes the job pretty easy actually.
