Default Differences

What is the difference between the Trans Am and the Formula? Can you get all the same options with both of them? Is there any small details that you can see that is different? And. Which would you buy?

Um, well it all depends on what you want cosmetically.
Think of the formula as a stripped down Trans Am. You can still get the leather, power windows and all that stuff in a formula, but the formula's ground effects(or lack thereof) keeps the car a little lighter than that of a TA.

In theory, other than the ACTUAL BODY differences, the Formula and the TA are identical in nature

I bought the TA....Yea it's a little heavier, so with the same mods on a formula it'd be faster, but i wanted the looks. Also, if you want the stealthiness, go for the formula.....

I'd get a TA(knowing the formula would be faster)....

the formula is a V6 firebird with a V8 drivetrain.

The Trans Am, has different front bumpers, side skirts, hatch/wing, rear bumper, and standard with t-tops (LS1 years anyway) and leather

mechanically they are the same, the only option that could not be ordered (besided body panel differences) was the AQ9 seats (plastic backed, 6 way adjustable, with lumbar)

Formula is comparible more to the Z28 as far as trim. This is not to say that the TA is like the SS....because thats what the WS6 TA is for

More answers on this thread. https://ls1tech.com/forums/pontiac-firebird-1967-2002/165473-trans-am-vs-formula.html

I prefer the Formula. Cleaner styling, very rare, and lighter weight

I jumped on my Formula when I found it because it had the T/A options like t-tops and leather, but with the cleaner styling of the Formula - in particular, don't like the big wing on the T/A.
